PIPELINE TO SUCCESS
Building Bright Futures (BBF) is committed to dramatic change in student success. Every child faces new challenges at each stage of life. Early and effective interventions and supports are critical. The BBF programs and support systems listed in the pipeline are designed to reduce these challenges.

Early Childhood Services
Early Childhood Services supports early childhood health and education providers and agencies serving at-risk children, teens and families through innovative partnerships utilizing existing community resources to make the most of early childhood.
Healthy Futures
Healthy Futures works to ensure all children are healthy and ready to learn. By addressing the many barriers students and families experience regarding health through the promotion of health literacy, establishing Building Bright Futures School-Based Health Centers, and improving access to behavioral and mental health services within the community, Healthy Futures aims to meet the needs of the whole child and support academic achievement for all.
Student Engagement, Attendance & Service Learning
Student Engagement, Attendance & Service Learning is a BBF and University of Nebraska at Omaha collaboration that works with students, parents, schools and community organizations to improve school attendance and engagement through the use of prevention and early intervention strategies, the development of student assets and service learning.
Mentoring
The Midlands Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is designed to connect existing youth-mentoring programs and serve as a resource center for organizations desiring to start a mentoring program. The purpose of the Midlands Mentoring Partnership is also to increase awareness of youth mentoring, participate in community recruitment processes, support the implementation of quality mentoring standards and monitor outcomes of programs and share resources.
After School
The Middle School Learning Center Initiative focuses on building and maintaining quality, free after-school programs within designated school buildings. These high-quality, after-school programs are directly tied to the school day curriculum and focus on recreation, academic enrichment, nutrition and cultural activities based on the needs of the participants and their communities.
Academic Supports & Re-Engagement
Academic supports will include tutoring and interventions in reading and math in all pilot schools. Disengaged youth and high school dropouts ages 15-20 will have an opportunity to re-engage in an educational program and get resources needed to earn a diploma at a new Resource & Re-Engagement Center that is scheduled open before the end of 2010.
Avenue Scholars Foundation
The Avenue Scholars program is designed to provide intrusive support for students of talent and need through high school, college, and into the workforce. Starting in the fall of 2009, Avenue Scholars began serving 174 students in three area high schools and Metro Community College. Avenue Scholars is currently serving approximately 475 students in seven Omaha area high schools, Metro Community College, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
