Healthy Futures
The Coordinated School Health Model is the framework for Healthy Futures.  The first two strategies include coordinated school health centers and comprehensive health literacy.

Student Engagement, Attendance and Service Learning
Student Engagement, Attendance & Service Learning is a collaboration between BBF and the University of Nebraska at Omaha working on five strategies, including attendance incentives programs, attendance media campaign, school refusal assessment survey, 40 Developmental Asset framework, and service learning.

Bright Futures Foundation/Avenue Scholars
The Bright Futures Foundation was organized in January 2008 with a pledge to support students of talent and financial need through higher education and into the workforce.   In January 2009, the Avenue Scholars program began serving students in a partnership with Urban League of Omaha to secure college admission and financial aid for graduating high school seniors.

Nebraska Career Connections
Nebraska Career Connections provides educational and career planning resources that bring together Nebraskans – students, parents, educators, and employers.  Building Bright Futures is partnering with Nebraska Career Connections to serve more youth through community partners.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE


There are over 1,000 high school students in the two-county area not meeting standards in reading and over 950 not meeting standards in math.



The overall graduation rate in the Omaha Metropolitan Area is 80%, leaving 20% of students not graduating on-time, having dropped out or having pursued a GED.
